I missed Earth Day... on social media. But everyday is Earth Day for me, so I don’t really care. Social media is such a hard thing for me to do sometimes. I wonder sometimes why my “insta” hasn’t grown like other accounts do, but that’s because posting every day is hard for me. Technology can be hard for me to do everyday. I spend my life making images and documenting, but I also love living in the moment so much, that it can be daunting for me. I share with the world the images and experiences that I hope will teach others about the things that I see. I truly try and post great quality content over ‘posting fillers’, so if that doesn’t grow me, well... that’s okay. I’m not here to gain followers but I hope to shed light on new ways of life, show people the way we do things in this incredible world. I am appreciative for everyone on here who supports me and is here genuinely, thank you for that!! . . This image was made at the gorgeous green belt we have here in Austin,TX. It’s a special place in the middle of Texas that keeps a lot of us here... or keeps us coming back:) #earthday #earthday2019 #doyou #exploremore #beyou #getoutstayout #nature #texashillcountry
Happy 420! I have been documenting cannabis farms for the past 5 years and it has been nothing short of interesting! The story of 420 can be dated back to 1971 from some San Refael, CA high school kids that used the term 4:20 to meet after school to smoke out. Their parents just so happened to be friends of the Grateful Dead and got to hang out back stage and helped out on tour where they used the term a lot. During the 70s and 80s the Dead started using the term 420 when talking about smoking and it began to spread. High Times became hip to the term in the 90s and started to plan all of their Cannabis Cups and World Hemp Expo tours around the dates of 420 and really globalized the term. Now it’s a global holiday for all of the 420 lovers around the world. Love! It’s such a unique subculture and it will be interesting to see what it turns into in the future. . . . . #cannabiscommunity #sanrafael #california #420 #nationalweedday #cannabis #happyholidaze #documentary #weedart #huffingtonpost #happy420
Going through archives and seeing work I haven’t seen in years!! Cotton candy skies sit behind cannabis plants on the small farm I documented years back for my ongoing photo story over the evolution of cannabis in modern times. After legalization it has gotten much much easier to ask people to document. I am finally moving on to other states like Colorado, Texas, and Oregon! It’s a life long project I hope to work on that documents the cannabis industry and how it changes and morphs through time as well as how it affects the people growing it. Thank you to everyone who has helped me and let me in to document something so unique! Come see me at @austinreggaefestival where I will be selling prints from my story! @cbdtherapy will also be there selling her amazing Cbd products! . . . . #cannabis #weedculture #americandream #cbd #austinreggaefest #california #sunset #maryjane #photojournalism #longtermproject
I was the guinea pig for @kyle.lobpries new straps. They seemed to have worked 😜 We had a great ride over Lake Travis yesterday evening, it was such a beautiful day! We were conspiring about some epic shots in the future too. Can’t wait to get creative! . . . . #aerobatics #flying #laketravis #hillcountry #adventuretime #fly #topdown #sky_lovers #upsidedown #plane
@lizcgoodwin and I on assignment with @yahoo in 2017. I had to take her to the Mother Tree in the valley that I have been working on a long term photo project about small cannabis farmers in NorCal. It has been a long, slow, beautiful, exciting project. I lived with the farmers and learned so much about their lifestyle and living off of the grid. I inevitably learned how to grow cannabis and vegetables, (there’s so much), I learned how to chop down a tree and chop it up for firewood. I learned what it was like to be scared shitless when a heli was hovering or when a fire broke out close by, waiting close by to cut firewalls or evacuate. It’s been a crazy ride and wouldn’t take it back for anything. Unfortunately, just as predicted, once cannabis went legal in 2017, most of the small farmers I documented didn’t grow this year (they were all growing legally). Now a small niche of farmers and small businesses are dwindling away, most have been doing it for 10-20 years. I hope to go back and document the lives of them working at their new jobs. It’s been surreal. . . . . #mothertree #redwoods #cannabis #photojournalism #longtermproject #weed #farmers #smallfarmers #norcal #california #bigbusiness
Hey everyone! I have had a lot more people join me on my Instagram ride lately and I wanted to introduce myself to anyone whom I don’t know. My name is Deleigh, pronounced like Delete, without the T: Deleigh. Funny but true 😆. I probably have 50 nicknames and they are all unique to the person who gave it to me... which I love so much. . . One of my main passions in life is an epic adventure. Nothing does more for the soul than getting out in the middle of nowhere and really pushing your limits. Testing yourself and your capabilities. It started for me because of photography. Taking long hikes gave me ample opportunities to slow down and create images that are timeless. It gave me time to feel small amongst Mother Nature and to appreciate the beauty she so generously gives us. One of my absolute favorite things to do is drive down long winding dirt roads. There’s something about going slow, listening to music, stoping where you see fit to take photos or just look at the view, and making it to a spot where you’ll sleep for the night. . . Thank you for coming along the adventure with me, I couldn’t do it with out y’all!!
